Welcome to the first of a series of pink photographs appearing on this blog every Thursday throughout the month of October — otherwise known as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I’m taking up this project at the encouragement of the lovely Christina Martin of Soul Aperture. It’s not too late to decide you’d like to put something pink on your own blog every Thursday that remains for the month of October. After all, when I joined in with the rainbow challenge last month, I was rather late — and I still got a lot of satisfaction from it. I’m not even sure where I’ll go with the topic yet. For now, I’m informing myself on the subject, since I have not had any personal experiences with the disease.

Since my garden did not have a single pink blossom growing in it, all of the photographs in the series are from a day trip to Wayside Gardens/Park Seed Co., where I explored their trial gardens — or what remained of them after they’d closed up shop for the season.
Actually, there was plenty left to see. My sister and I spent almost two hours winding our way through all the loveliness. This is Yarrow Summer Berries. If I had a cottage garden in addition to the Victory Garden, she’d have a spot reserved in it.
