I just had to share with y’all.

That’s right, the sugar snap peas are blooming.  Finally.

I guess if there’s a moral in here somewhere, it would be something like, “Patience, young grasshopper.”  And if I were really on top of things, I’d have a brilliant photograph of a grasshopper to go along with the shot of the pea blossom.

But I don’t.  It’s just me and the flower.  Still, very exciting if you look at it from the right angle.*

All right.  That’s all.  Y’all can go back to your regularly scheduled Saturdays now.

*If you have no clue what I’m talking about, you may want to review the previous post related to the peas’ progress, entitled, appropriately enough, “slowpokes.”

My pea plants are *finally* producing actual peas, which is (I think) late for California.

Lisa, can you believe I thought I’d be eating peas by early April, based on the seed packets? Just shows, when you grow something for the first time, you have a steep learning curve ahead of you — although that doesn’t preclude it being fun. Let us know when you harvest!

Diana, I looked at that yesterday, and I thought I probably don’t qualify, since it’s kind of against daily posting, and at the very least suggestive that this practice runs counter to quality writing, whereas I’ve found daily posting to be a boon to the writing flow and practiced it consistently for over six months. It’s true that now I typically only publish four to seven days a week and have reduced my pace a bit… but still. Thanks for the offer, though. :)

  10. Yum! Don’t put any photos up of the peas when they form – I love sugar snaps and you might just come back and find the picture empty ;)

Heidi, now I definitely want to put up that photo, just to witness the virtual magic in action. One more reason to hope the plants produce — and soon. :)
