"The moment one gives close attention to any thing, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.”
~Henry Miller
It’s a day of pure joy. When the wind blows and sets the whole green forest to dancing, I’m sure my soul can no longer fit within its boundaries, but must go out and share.
Do you know the feeling I’m talking about?
(from "riches", April 2010)

While that question is probably a little difficult to answer in a paragraph (or even in a lifetime), I can tell you that my name is Meredith, and that I love to ponder life's mystery and beauty and joys and then write about them. This blog is all about my interactions with Nature during my walks in the woods, visits to Botanical Gardens, in my own small, organic kitchen garden -- and anywhere else I happen to be when inspiration strikes.

What a striking intense colour. I don’t think I’ve seen a rhodie that shade before. Pinks, reds and frilly lilacs and purples, yes, but flaming orange, nope. Lovely.
It was my first experience of this one, and I was enchanted first by its delicious perfume, believe it or not — and then followed my nose to discover the bright, exotic beauty of the shrub, itself.
That’s like having a pool of sunshine in the garden! Lovely, Meredith!
Talon´s last blog ..A Murder (An Unkindness)
That’s a beautiful way of describing it, Talon.
Ver cool. jim
Jim Groble´s last blog ..Wordless Wednesday – Duck on roof
I’m glad you thought so, Jim. I did, too.
Sometimes no words are needed. Lovely.
Lynn´s last blog ..Waking up, back together and editing
True, Lynn. It seemed an ideal solution to spring overload — especially once I found this almost surreal shot among the day’s captures.
I never would have guessed azalea. I agree, no words needed…but the image tag was nice to have! Stunning photo, and wonderful warm colors.
Curbstone Valley Farm´s last blog ..Iris fernaldii
I thought I needed to give tags, CV, because the buds were photographed in such a strange way as to cut them off from all references and give them a slightly alien appearance. I’m glad they helped in figuring out the shot.
Thank you for the compliment!
Golden loveliness! I just love spring! gail
Gail´s last blog ..The Day Is Long
Me, too, Gail. It’s by far my favorite season. Nature makes me come alive in the same way as the earth and trees!
Glorious my friend … just glorious.
philip´s last blog ..Feeling purple?
Aw, Philip, thank you.
Beautiful! Oh–yesterday I went to my arboretum and saw this beautiful tree that made me think of you: Alexandrina Saucer Magnolia.
Alisha´s last blog ..Me over the past 45 days:
Oh, how kind, Alisha! I feel very touched that you should associate me with a lovely tree in bloom. The very highest of compliments.
this is just a beautiful and buttery color.
xoxo
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Christina!
Blown up it looks like a pyschadelic watercolor painting! Very nice.
Sweet Bay´s last blog ..Tenderest green and a spring tradition
Sweet Bay, I confess that was why I chose that shot. It looked like modern art to me when it popped up on my screen, and I didn’t even need to edit the photo, the colors were already wild and, as you say, psychedelic. The rest of the photos of this beauty were rather staid comparatively.
Dear Meredith, A positively volcanic Azalea!!
Indeed, Edith. I was blown away by its hot brightness. Yes, pun intended.
Hoping you are not having any unfortunate side effects from the real volcano eruption ongoing over the pond…
So vibrant!
Kyna ´s last blog ..Wilmington, North Carolina ~ Part Deux ~ Airlie Gardens
I agree, Kyna. Maybe almost too much so, from a certain angle.
What a beautiful photo! You inpire me to try to take better plant and flower photos.
Kathy´s last blog ..Garden Festival Gifts
Kathy, I’m so glad I inspire you. What a kind compliment you’ve paid me! I must say I think being passionately in love with the flowers and plants seems to cover a lot of sins in photos, to my great relief.
It’s a great shot and what a gorgeous colour!
Thank you, Bernie. Glad you like it!
