Gentleness and simplicity. Those are this week’s bywords. With just those two, you have pretty much got focus in the bargain anyway.
Look at the red cabbage in the early morning light. I know, it’s a strange photograph, but it seemed to fit what I wanted to say.
Here’s some more traditional photos of the red cabbages, for those who’d like to see from a different angle.

Meredith – the top image is stunning, simply stunning.

Thank you, Karen.
How do you get such amazing photos from such mundane subjects? I want to have your eye!
Merrilee´s last blog ..Get organised to enhance your productivity
Merrilee, you are very sweet. I suspect your eye is quite keen, as well — but expresses its views in words, instead.
Delicious looking, for sure. And certainly simplicity itself.
Lynn´s last blog ..Light on the stairs, HGTV and tribute
Lynn, it looks so delicious that sometimes I am frustrated to have to wait so much longer until they’ll be ready to pick and eat.
That first shot is fab, and tasty too. The vains in that shot almost look human.
They do look almost human, Stone Art! I hadn’t thought of it before.
I love the softness and the contrast of the color of the veins in the first shot, Meredith. I like looking at the world through your eyes.
Talon´s last blog ..A waxing crescent…
Oh, Talon, that last sentence is just such a precious compliment. I’ll carry those words with me for days.
Thank you, my friend.
I, too, love looking closely and seeing the amazing, crazy designs and colors that you miss when standing back. Absolutely awesome! I’m inspired by your focus this week as well…simplicity is a great thing that sincerely works!
kimberly´s last blog ..Quick Update, Mouse & Trowel and Heliconia Sale!
Kimberly, I agree. Now if only I can carry that lesson about simplicity with me always, and not get carried away by the busyness of everyday life, I’ll be set.
I agree with Merrilee–you get amazing shots of mundane items. The colors are so soft and lovely; they illustrate your bywords beautifully.
Kathy´s last blog ..Caution: Tortoise Crossing
I’m glad you enjoyed the soft colors, too, Kathy. The oh-so-gentle feeling of that dusky lavender and pale blue-green were at least half the reason I chose this photo to illustrate the week’s focus.
I love the rosette look of cabbages and only wish they’d stay small so I could enjoy their aesthetics. Plant breeders, are you listening??
Grace, I’m wishing mine were a little bigger right now — but the angle of the sun on the Victory Garden in early spring was all wrong, and they got a slow, slow start. Still, you’ve reminded me that even for this slower than expected maturity, I can be grateful. Cabbages at the true rosette stage do belong in the flower garden — and I hope for your sake the plant breeders are listening.
Very cool pics. I love close ups of leaves. jim

Leaves make excellent photographic subjects, I agree, Jim.
Oh i always prefer to look at the same things at a different angle. Lovely colours xx
carrie´s last blog ..Like a Phoenix rising from the phlegm
Why am I not surprised by that statement, Carrie? Going through all you’ve been through, looking at the world from another angle must have been a very important skill to have.
I love the bottom photo, just a perfect composition.
LL Cool Joe´s last blog ..Why?
Oh, yay, I’m so glad someone liked the third one, too. Thanks for the compliment, Joe.
*gorgeous* shots!
